The Rashleigh family, Charles and the creation of Charles’ Town.

2023 marks 200 years since Charles Rashleigh’s death.  Following on from the success of the Rashleigh Promenade Show, Andy Trudgian of Charlestown History Group will celebrate the bicentennial and honour Charlestown’s founder with a presentation aiming to shed new light on his life and endeavours. In this talk, the heritage of the Rashleigh Family in Cornwall is explored along with the ups and downs of Charles Rashleigh’s life. It ends, discussing the history and legacy of his greatest achievement, the port that drove the industrialisation of mid Cornwall.

PLUS we get a premier screening of the Rashleigh Promenade show held around Charlestown Sept 2023, performed by St Austell Players.

This informative evening will start with stories of the Lucky Lady Daphne and will be held below deck in our 100 year old Heritage Sailing vessel. Limited spaces so booking necessary.

Drinks will be available from our licensed Bar throughout the evening. Bar open from 6:30pm, presentations start from 7:15pm.

Entry tickets £8 per person.

ALL funds raised from our events go towards the constant upkeep and maintenance of Lady Daphne and to help keep her operating from Charlestown Harbour.
